Miami Geo Quiz #3: Tallest Flagpole in Miami-Dade County

How well do you know the spaces and places constituting greater metropolitan Miami?

For the third installment of the Miami Geo Quiz, look at the photo above and/or watch this video from December 2013 of a fresh Star-Spangled Banner being erected along the tallest flagpole in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and the second tallest in the entire State of Florida.

(No; I had absolutely no idea about these obscure flag factoids, but the kind gentleman from Jones, Lang, LaSalle — the commercial real estate / flag contractor firm — mentioned it while I was filming the flag being raised into the air.)

It’s one impressively large flag!

Miami Geo Quiz #3: Provide (1) the name and (2) exact street address of the downtown Miami building/property to which this flagpole belongs. (This time, you’re allowed to cheat and Google the street address.)

Hint: It’s the same building depicted in the image at the top of this post. One can also catch a few glimpses of the building’s unique zig-zag architecture toward the, admittedly choppy, end of the video.

  1. You got it, urbaninstigator (a.k.a., Marta Viciedo)! You’re good!

Yes, the guy in the video dropped that flagpole fact on me whilst I shot the video with my phone!

I’ll have to post Miami Geo Quiz #4 soon! Thanks for playing!

  2. OK – you’ve totally got me hooked on these quizzes — this can’t end well. It’s right in front of the Southeast Financial Center building at 200 S Biscayne Blvd. I’ve admired that flag from inside when I’ve visited one of the offices on the 5th floor, but I didn’t know that was the tallest flagpole in the county.
